State-Aware Load Shedding From Input Event Streams in Complex Event Processing

In complex event processing (CEP), load shedding is performed to maintain a given latency bound during overload situations when there limitation on resources. However, implies degradation in the quality of results (QoR). Therefore, it crucial perform way that has lowest impact QoR. Researchers, CEP domain, propose drop either events or partial matches (PMs) cases. They assign utilities PMs by considering importance but not both together. this article, we combine these approaches where utility an and PMs. We two for systems. The first approach drops from PMs, while second windows. adopt probabilistic model uses type position window state PM event. We, also, predict threshold used required amount bound. By extensive evaluations real-world datasets several representative queries, show that, majority cases, our outperforms state-of-the-art approaches, w.r.t.
